Vice Chairman of China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce, Mr Cao Xinyu, recently, revealed that the relevant policy of 2007 textile and garment export quotas to the US would be announced by the end of September, before the autumn Canton Fair.
Specific distribution mode will still be based both on tender and performance, but the state will provide low-cost quotas with price similar to the agreement tender in August.
In addition, Cao Xinyu also said that China's textile exports grew steadily this year, representing a favorable trend of higher price and lower quantity.
Customs statistics show that, from January to July this year, import and export of textiles and garments reached US $86.48 billion, an increase of 21.4 percent, of which exports were $76.17 billion, a growth of 23.9 percent. Imports marked $10.31 billion, an increase of 5.7 percent, realizing a trade surplus of $65.86 billion, up 27.3 percent.
In July alone, exports amounted to $13.56 billion, set a new high in fifth consecutive month.
In the first seven months of this year, overall clothing export price hiked 6.5 percent, average price of garment exports to the US and the EU jumped 26.7 and 23.6 percent, respectively.
