As worry about inflation topped Ipsos' ‘What Worries the World’ survey for the third month in a row  in July and concern about inflation rose for 11 consecutive months, 37 per cent of people in 27 countries cited inflation as one of the top issues—a rise of 3 percentage points from May.

A majority (66 per cent) also thinks the current economic situation is bad. However, some countries, including India, Spain and Italy, have become more optimistic since May in this respect.

Ipsos Group is a multinational market research and consulting firm headquartered in Paris.

Economic concerns dominate the top three, with poverty and social inequality the second most-cited concern globally, and unemployment third, a report on the website of the World Economic Forum said.

As concerns about the global economy have increased, COVID-19 worries have dropped.
