Govt to permit zero-rated supply of utilities to textile industry

The Pakistani government has made its mind to permit zero-rated supply of utilities to the whole textile industry and some other key donor parties to the export earnings.

An official declaration on the issue is expected within a few days permitting the textile industries concerning to exports and domestic production, leather and leather products, carpets, sports and surgical goods besides a number of chemical industries adding the efforts to enhance the export system in Pakistan.

Premier entrepreneur in the textile sector Majyd Aziz informed that the action taken by the Pakistani government was important for the existing local industries, which are currently facing cutthroat competition with the cheap foreign goods.

A zero-rated utility means repayment of the sales tax previous remunerated on electricity and gas consumption as well as utilization of telecommunication services.

Aziz described action, as essential, historical and rescuer to domestic industry industries.

More than 17 ecstatic associations of a range of industries have make their minds to celebrate the occasion by organizing a celebration party for Chairman CBR Abdullah Yousuf in Karachi on June 27.
