Income tax on carpets, textiles, raw cotton to go up

With effect from July 1, 2005, the government of Pakistan has raised the rate of income tax on exportable carpets, leather, textiles, sports goods, surgical items from 0.75 percent to one per cent.
In a parallel development, rate of income tax on exports of raw cotton and cotton yarn have also been raised from 1.25 percent to 1.5 percent.
Besides, jewellery, pharmaceuticals, ceramic ware, cutlery, wooden furniture and wooden doors and windows will attract 0.75 percent income tax.
