The Maharashtra Government had recently unveiled its planning to set up two SEZs in the state, each at Navi Mumbai and Nagpur.
The area next to the Butibori five-star industrial estate is an obvious choice and the industry expects the upcoming textile park will be covered under SEZ.
Besides textile complex, an apparel park and a weavers' park are also being developed. The development is on a way under the central government's cluster development scheme for textile units.
The MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) has allocated 69 plots measuring more than of 1,000 square metres for the textile park.
The industry has welcomed the announcement of the centre comply the Maharashtra government's proposal of setting up the SEZ with cautious optimism.
Textile minister, Maharashtra Satish Chaturvedi informed that the Centre had granted approval to established two SEZs in Dronagiri in Navi Mumbai and at Nagpur near the airport.
While greeting the announcement, the industry hopes that the state government would step up its efforts to kick off the project.
