Kerala to establish textile centre in Kannur district

Kerala State Industries Minister V K Ibrahim Kunju told the State Assembly that government would establish a textile centre in Kannur district with the support of Centre.
Kunju, in a written reply to V K Chandran (CPI-M) stated textile centre would be functional under the Central Textile Centre Infrastructure Development Scheme (CTCIDS), and further, steps had been already taken to acquire 126 acres of land for the proposed textile centre.
The infrastructure at Panniyoor was likely to be completed within two years. The Union Government had provided Rs 20 crore on the condition of repayment for the purpose, Kunju added.
Kunju said the State Government had moved to set up a National Business Development Centre with all essential facilities at Kochi for which, 40 acres of land on the seaport-airport road at Kalamassery had been located.
