Under the aegis of the Colombian Chambers of
Commerce, Medellin, Colombia, hosted an annual Ministerial
Conference Tuesday, to form short term action plans and startegies to turn the country more competitive and productive.

The objective is to establish a rapport among the national infrastructure, human resources, science and technology, environment and the economic situation, among other diverse factors and ensure that overall improvement takes place.

"Internal Agenda," a policy document compiled from 1,000 debates in workshops and open forums conducted last year, and which proposes ways to take advantage of opportunities and reduce the risks of trade agreements for the nation, will be circulated among the ministers for consideration.

Apart from focussing on agro-industry (60%), with emphasis on forestry, meat and dairy, fruit, aquaculture, and fishing, priority will also be accorded to tourism, cultural,
ethnic, adventure, business and agriculture, textiles, energy, mining and transportation sectors.

Each minister has been given the responsibility to report on work to be completed over the next year, based on the given priorities, at the conference.
