EDF Board to fund establishment of Expo Centre Lahore

At the 42nd meeting of the Board of Administrators of Export Development Fund, the Board announced funding of Rs 300 million for Expo Center Lahore and guided EPB to hold the groundbreaking ceremony as soon as possible and make the center fully functional by the end of 2006.
The Board also funds Rs 89 million to set up garment city in Faisalabad and also planned to enhance the textile related universities and institutions and approved funding amounting to Rs 74.372 million for national textile university Faisalabad.
For SMA Rizvi Textile Institute Karachi, the board sanctioned Rs 57.9 million and Rs 7.736 million for Pakistan school of fashion design Lahore.
The Board also approved an additional amount of Rs 380 million for the general freight subsidy scheme to clear the processed claims relating to 2004-05 pending with National Bank of Pakistan.
To buy out quilting machines for installation at Karachi and Sialkot centers, it funded Rs 42 million for leather garment manufacturing units to make Pakistani leather garments of international standard and meet requirements of foreign buyers.
