Gerber Technology well-positioned to support explosive growth in India's apparel industry

Gerber Technology announced that Brian Muir has joined its Southwest Asia regional office as senior customer service consultant, to assist its agent, India Industrial Garment Machines Pvt. Ltd. (IIGM), in managing the rapid growth in business and the resulting service demands in India. Muir joins industry veteran Bob Vallender, regional director, Southwest Asia, Middle East and Gulf countries. He will be based in Gerber's office in Bangalore.

For India, that change will be a continuation of the growth it has experienced in the last few years,” said James Arthurs, chairman of Gerber Technology and president Asia-Pacific, Gerber Scientific, Inc. “At Gerber, we believe that India is going to be a major beneficiary of the changes that are now taking place and that the apparel and textile industries are going to automate at a faster rate than ever before. To support the continuing growth of our customers here we are continuing to strengthen our presence in the region.”

Muir started his career in 1962 as a radio technician in the British Army moving to Rank Xerox UK Ltd. in 1972 where he had various roles including service engineer and field supervisor product specialist. In 1985, he was promoted to support manager at Xerox International Headquarters where he provided technical support and training to operating units in the Middle East and the Mediterranean. There he was responsible for the set-up of AfterSales Operations departments in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar.
