Dystar wins Best Practice Award for Palo-Based BI Solution

Dystar, a leading manufacturer of textile dyes, was awarded 2nd prize for its reporting solution based on Palo OLAP Server and Palo Worksheet Server by Jedox. Thomas Seeler, Head of Corporate Controlling at Dystar Textilfarben GmbH, accepted the Best Practice Award Business Intelligence at CeBIT on March 5, 2009.

Dystar's successful BI project is characterized by a results-oriented and cost-conscious approach. The Controlling department quickly established and now uses the web-based system to control the monthly reporting and planning for more than 50 affiliates. Thomas Seeler launched the project with the free Palo OLAP Server after the 2008 CeBIT Conference. Within a week, he had completed the corporation's monthly reporting. The Controlling department's-internal solution immediately achieved a "pull-effect" with the management board and other departments; the reporting solution was then extended in content and was made available as a decentralized web solution.

Contents of the award-winning Palo solution are profit and loss statements and balance sheets with actual data on a corporate level. Budget figures and forecasts are presented in product groups and business units. The analysis is executed by the type of costs and bank analysis. The source data originates from SAP BW/BI and from the associated consolidation tool SAP SEM BCS.

Seeler of Dystar comments, "Without having made an investment, we were able to prove the technical feasibility from the outset of the project. Only after achieving the pull-effect did we further invest in hardware, software licenses and support. After the successful implementation and positive user acceptance of our project we are now pleased to receive recognition for our approach by the expert jury of the CeBIT Best Practice Award."
