One of the factors for the success of IMB 2009 – World of Textile Processing is the event's top-class supporting program. It presents new trends and offers visitors numerous opportunities to exchange ideas at a high level of expertise and to discuss new business strategies.

The theme of the 2009 IMB Forum will be “Technology as the Backbone of the Future – Chances through Progress”.

The IMB Forum will take place on the second and third trade fair days of IMB 2009 – World of Textile Processing. The presentations will begin in the morning at 10:00 a.m. (to 12:10 p.m.) and in the afternoon at 2:15 p.m. (to 4:25 p.m.). Future Talk will kick off the opening day of IMB (April 21, 2009). This year it will be devoted to the theme "Chances for the Future: Ecology and Sustainability", which is the megatrend of the next decade.

On April 22, 2009, the IMB Forum will start with the sequence "Chances for the Future: CAD/CAM and Management Solutions". The motto of the afternoon will be "Chances for the Future: Material Flow/Logistics/Supply Chain Management". In this section, speakers including Rainer Jilke, Project Manager of RFID at Karstadt, and Dr. Sebastian Potyka, Managing Director of van Laack, will talk about RFID application in the supply chain.

April 23, 2009 will begin with "Chances for the Future: Processing Technical Materials". After a look at the area of smart textiles/wearable computers, two presentations from the automotive sector will follow. The IMB Forum program will conclude in the afternoon with four speakers addressing the topic "Chances for the Future: Product development/Clothing production". Here, speakers like Thomas Rasch, Managing Director of German Fashion (Modeverband Deutschland), will talk about the requirements of product safety for clothing.

The noon hours on April 22 and 23, 2009, will be devoted to the practical solutions developed as part of the EU research project L.E.A.P.F.R.O.G. (Leadership for European Apparel Production From Research along Original Guidelines), which is conducted by Euratex.

New at IMB 2009:
“Marketplace” – a communication platform for exhibitors
On April 22, 23 and 24 there will be a new feature exclusively for exhibitors at IMB 2009. The event will take place in the café and at the presentation area of the IMB Forum in Hall 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., just before the stream of visitors arrives. On these three days from 8:30 a.m. to 09:00 a.m., visitors are invited to enjoy coffee and croissants in a relaxing atmosphere while German and international experts speak about opportunities and difficulties in different countries and sales markets, under the title “Marketplace.” The Marketplace will be opened on the first day of the trade fair (April 21), with a topical presentation on the new machine guidelines set by European Union law will be given at 10:00 a.m. by VDMA, German Garment and Leather Technology Association.
