Appnova, a boutique management and technology consultancy, has designed and developed the newly launched e-commerce site for Retrosun Vintage Designer Sunglasses. Retrosun is an innovative label that specialises in vintage sunglasses from the world's most exclusive designer brands, including Christian Dior, Gucci, Vienna Line, Paloma Picasso, Ray Ban and Porsche. Since its formation in 2006, Retrosun has established its brand selling through well known retail stores internationally. Retrosun claims that the new website will further expand its retail operations, enabling customers easier access to its ranges, wherever they may live.

Retrosun selected Appnova following recommendation of the company, as well as for its proven experience and expertise in designing, building and implementing e-commerce sites for the fashion retail sector.

“Appnova was recommended to us as a company that has experience of developing e-commerce sites tailored to customers specific requirements. They worked closely with us in the early stages to ensure that the integrity of the brand that we have built up was maintained on the website,” said Nicole Miller, founder and owner of Retrosun.

“We also liked the fact that Appnova is able to host the system for us. Appnova's solution and knowledge of implementing an e-commerce strategy has helped us to manage and market our product offerings on the website. The functionality that it offers means that we can easily add new products to the catalogue and ensure that our customers' service expectations are met.”

The custom built e-commerce site has been developed using a combination of Flash and HTML technology. It enables customers to view the entire product range – the colours on offer and from different angles - and select them for the shopping basket.

Customers are also able to have their prescription applied to the lens of their selected glasses.

The built in back-end capability provides invoices for each purchase, including fulfilment and shipping details. The site integrates with all of the approved payment approval gateways, providing extra security for transactions made. In addition, once items are selected from the online catalogue, the stock system is updated, enabling Retrosun to manage its inventory.

Retrosun's wholesale customers can also log onto the site and request a secure login, so that they are able to place orders at special prices.

Jamie Ettedgui, Managing Director of Appnova said; “For all retailers today e-commerce is now a significant part of their business strategy. The e-commerce site must deliver a faultless customer service that also ensures the back end operations are carried out reliably and securely.

“We work with clients in the fashion and retail industry to design and develop a website that not only enhances their brand, it provides all of the tools required to market their product range and provide their customers with an easy to use website. It offers secure transaction methods, ensuring their customers' online experience is a positive one that will encourage them to return.”
