Role of technology in fashion design

Technology's impact on fashion design and clothing production is the focus of 'ideation2010', an annual software conference hosted by Gerber Technology in New Orleans on 21st & 22nd October 2010. Gerber Technology is a division of Gerber Scientific Inc.

More than 200 fashion industry leaders, sponsors, partners and vendors will gather at the Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans to discuss strategic issues associated with apparel design and technology. The 2-day conference fosters the sharing of ideas that speed efficiency and streamline design and production functions while supporting designers' creative processes. Now in its 12th year, 'ideation' underscores Gerber Technology's commitment to innovation in the fashion industry.

“Our industry is constantly striving to find innovative ways to use technology to get products to market quickly and cost-efficiently. 'ideation2010' is a great opportunity for industry leaders to share best practices and generate ideas to move the apparel design industry forward,” said Bill Brewster, President, Software Solutions, Gerber Technology.

At 'ideation', Gerber's team of industry-leading consultants will demonstrate the company's innovations, including its product lifecycle management software solution (YuniquePLM) and the newest version of its pattern design and marker making solution (AccuMark). These software solutions ensure that apparel and textiles retailers, brands, and manufacturers can swiftly move their merchandise to market by improving collaboration across their supply chains.

Other highlights of the event include a leading industry executive panel; a keynote speech by Gary Williams, Founder and CEO of wRatings, on gaining a competitive edge using technology; hands-on demonstrations; case studies and ask-the-expert panels.
