Istanbul Apparel Exporters Association (IAEA) is taking drastic measures to upgrade the city as the fashion capital.
For instance, the Association has succeeded in convincing the renowned Moroccan Fashion Designer, Fatima Lopez, to commence her operations and distribution from Istanbul.
Süleyman Orakcioglu, Chairman, IAEA, explained, “The organization of Atil Kutoglu, Dice Kayek, Fatima Lopez and a few other designers, is the most important step in making Istanbul the fashion capital. We are planning to make Istanbul the meeting point of the designers in the world. Further, we will realise important actions. The point of action begins with the interest of the designers in a region and in a city. Firstly, we want to take designers' interest to Istanbul and make them love Istanbul, then we want to transform Istanbul to a city, in which they feel belonged to it.”
Orakcioglu is also the Chairman of Board of Administration of Orka Group that has developed brands like Damat, Tween and ADV.
Orakcioglu believes that a country needs a infrastructure to emerge as the Fashion Capital.
He adds, "There was no substructure five years ago, but now we are ready."
