Cotton yarn export projects an interesting trend

Egypt's cotton spinning sector experienced sharp reduction in cotton yarn exports in 2005 with export to the US weakening continuously.
Egypt's cotton yarn exports in 2005 totaled 2,934 tons, recording a decline of 25.7 percent year-on-year, compared to 10,005 tons in 2002.
Egyptian cotton yarn export to the US during January 2006 was only 253 tons registering a sharp decline of 37.5 percent compared to the same period, the previous year.
Cotton yarn export to Italy for January to November 2005 period declined only 1.8 percent with export volume of 10,981 tons.
Lower count cotton yarn is exported by Egypt to the US for home textile production.
Considerable amount of US home textile output has moved out of the US as demand has gone down.
