According to the data recently announced by the National Bureau of Statistics, yarn output was 1.159 million tons in February 2007, a rise of 8.7 percent over the same period last year. Growth rate for the first time dropped to single-digit, and slowed down significantly over the past few months.
However, total yarn output was 2.601 million tons in January-February, an increase of 20.1 percent over the same period last year, being little changed from the previous growth rate.
In 2006 cotton year (September 2006- February 2007), total yarn output was 8.97 million tons of yarn, soaring 21.7 percent over the same period last year.
