Athletic wear manufacturer Nike has expanded its logistics campus in Belgium, Europe for a better and sustainable supply chain, eventually enabling company growth.

The expanded campus will increase operations efficiency, responsiveness and sustainability of the entire Nike supply chain, including Nike.com, Nike retail and wholesale partners in 38 countries.

The campus integrates features like use of 100 per cent renewable energy; infrastructure of canals, railways and highways; minimised footprint; 95 per cent of waste generated recycled; natural light; expansion provision with support to bio diversity.

This latest investment in a state-of-the-art centralised distribution network in the centre of Europe, which employs more than 3,000 people, allows Nike to serve a vast network of retailers and consumers not just on the continent, but across the world.

“Our facilities in Belgium are a pinnacle example of how sustainable innovation is embedded into Nike’s growth strategy, which enables us to maximise our performance while minimising our footprint,” Bert Stevens, vice president - supply chain operations of Nike Europe commented.

“The success of this expansion is a result of excellent teamwork, with great co-operation from local and national governments and support from many partners and the local community,” he added. (MCJ)
