Supima Cotton commends 'Made-in-US' apparel brands

Supima wants to take this time to give credit to a few brands that pride themselves on being made not just in America but, more specifically even, the state of California.

Jeffrey Todd Shafer, the designer and CEO of Agave Denim, doesn’t mince words when he talks about his brand’s relationship with where it’s manufactured. “America has the Environmental Protection Agency and the Employment Development Department monitoring water at the laundry and employment conditions at the factories.

Also, quality control: when your goal is to make the finest quality jeans, it is much easier if you work close to the factories. Plus, our values: I don’t believe in selling out my neighbor’s job to make more profit. American and California has a heritage of denim and jeans. Our customers demand Made in the USA.” Shafer considers Supima an integral part of the process, feeling they are “often imitated, never duplicated.”

With their corporate headquarters in Southern California, Three Dots designs, cuts, sews and ships all from one 70,000 square foot building. “Operating locally enables Three Dots to inspire our customers to value the spirit of the American Dream,” says the brand’s social marketing coordinator, Vincent Ha.

“AG is committed to using the best quality yarns,” says the brand’s Creative Director and VP, Samuel Ku. “We specify to our fabric mills that they use Supima yarns in many of the fabrics we develop.” This relationship between the LA denim giant and the California-grown cotton fits in perfectly with AG’s Made in LA stance. “We believe that jeans Made in the USA are of the highest quality and do our best to manufacture as many products as we can here,” Ku continues.
