This year Flipkart, a leading Bangalore-based retailer, is beginning its Big Billion Days sale, second of its kind, from midnight today lasting till 17 October. Online Apparel retailer Myntra, owned by Flipkart, will also be a part of the 5-day mega sale. Flipkart has increased its manpower and fulfilment centres to meet timely deliveries. The company expects to ship over 100,000 packages everyday during the sale period.
Snapdeal, the Gurgaon-based e-commerce marketplace, is also beginning its Diwali sale from today and ending on 17 October. The company has 15 million products to offer to its customers and has increased the number of sellers by four times to nearly 2 lakh compared to 50,000 until last year.
Amazon India has also announced its Great Indian Festive sale from today. The 5-day sales will offer more than 25 million unique products. The company expects to witness 200 per cent increase in traffic this festive week.
The Dussehra-Diwali season, falling in the months of October and November, account for 30 to 40 per cent of a year's total sales for e-commerce companies. (HO)
