Marimekko opens online store for Australian shoppers

Marimekko strengthens its presence in Australia by opening an online store for the Australian customers. The store which opened in the beginning of April 2016 covers all of the company's product categories; fashion, bags & accessories, and home collection.

Australia is an important country for Marimekko in the Asia-Pacific region which is the company's second largest market area straight after its home market Finland. Today, Marimekko has a total of four brick-and-mortar stores in Australia located in Melbourne and Sydney.

“Marimekko's positive and colourful design philosophy has delighted Australian consumers already since the 1960s and during the last few years we have strengthened our presence in the market especially through our own retail stores. Marimekko's online store experience was renewed last fall and now we are very excited to offer it also to our Australian customers. Developing digital business is one of our strategic priorities, and in the long-term our goal is to expand our global availability through both our own e-commerce as well as e-tailers. Expanding our online store to Australia is yet another great step to the right direction”, says Marimekko's President Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko.

After the expansion to Australia, Marimekko's own e-commerce reaches customers in 13 countries.

Marimekko is a Finnish design company renowned for its original prints and colours. The company's product portfolio includes high-quality clothing, bags and accessories as well as home décor items ranging from textiles to tableware. (HO)
