IMG Worldwide announced that it has signed Russian long-jump sensation Darya Klishina for exclusive worldwide representation for all marketing, endorsement, and sponsorship opportunities across all business areas.
Klishina, 20, was born in Tvar, Russia, but is now based in Moscow. Inspired by her active parents, both long time track and field enthusiasts -- her father is a former high-jumper -- she began participating in sports at young age. She started out playing volleyball at age eight, but within a few years was noticed by a track and field coach and soon after began competing in track and field events full-time.
Highlights from Klishina's successful junior career include collecting World Youth Champion and World Junior Champion titles as well as winning two Diamond League events. In 2010, she jumped a personal best of 7.03 and is considered to be major contender to medal at the 2012 Olympic Games.
"I'm very happy to have IMG managing the business aspects relating to my career," Klishina said. "IMG represents some of the greatest athletes in their respective sports and I'm truly fortunate to find myself included among them."
Her current endorsement portfolio includes multi-year agreements with Nike and Redbull.
Klishina's commercial endorsement portfolio will be managed by a global team at IMG led by Olivier Van Lindonk in the U.S. and Alexei Nikolaev in Europe. In the years to come, she will make use of the IMG Academies world-class training facilities in Bradenton, Florida as part of her training regimen.
