For the first time, uniforms will be introduced at the upcoming sixth World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships to be held in Vladivostok Russia from July 29-31, 2011.
The new outfits for the participating athletes have been designed by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) in association with its Poomsae development committee, based on the decision taken by Taekwondo's governing body at its Beijing Conference in 2007.
Reflecting the five tenets of taekwondo, the uniforms have been created in five different colours. These uniforms are also influenced by the traditional Korean philosophy.
Dolsilnai, a modern hanbok manufacturer, is creating the outfits, while MJ Sport is the exclusive distributor of these uniforms for the championships.
The WTF emblem will be on the left side of the uniform, while the flag of the individual athlete's country will be on the right side. The National Olympic Committee (NOC) code will be on the back of the garment, near the neckline.
The uniform has a yellow jacket, dark blue pants, and a 'po' or outer jacket, which combines traditional aspects with fashion, providing comfort and style.
Po is designed to enhance the athletes' performance and its fabric has the quality of making a whipping sound in tune with the dynamic taekwondo movements.
