Twintex is known for providing solutions before problems arise
Twintex is a Portugal-based company specialising in the production of high-quality textiles, working largely within the fashion industry. Leveraging a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and technological innovation, the company has positioned itself as a reputable supplier in the global market. Speaking to Fibre2Fashion, Head - PR, Sustainability & CSR, Beatriz Tavares the company’s expansion, quality control, CSR activities, and more.

Could you provide an overview of Twintex’s journey and evolution since its inception, highlighting key milestones and achievements?

Twintex was founded in 1979, and since then we have been committed to being the ‘Clothing Manufacturer of the Future’. This mindset was cultivated by our founder, Mister Mineiro, and now all management is overseen by Bruno Mineiro and Mico Mineiro. We initially focused on the national market, but in time, we expanded to serve the foreign market as well.
We began with a focus on children’s garments. As Mister Mineiro likes to say: “The children have grown up, and so have we.” Now, we produce clothing for both women and men.

What sets Twintex apart from other manufacturers in the fashion industry when it comes to quality control and product development?

Twintex is dedicated to producing high-quality garments while also prioritising the well-being of our team. Our commitment to being the industry’s best company to work for is essential in ensuring that everyone involved in producing for our clients strives for excellence and takes pride in representing Twintex in every detail.

Could you discuss the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within Twintex and how it aligns with your goals as the ‘Clothing Manufacturer of the Future’?

As mentioned earlier, we firmly believe that a happy company contributes to a happy environment. It is imperative that we not only strive to excel in our work but also share our success with the people who make our dreams a reality – our team. Twintex continuously works towards providing better conditions for our team members, offering motivational awards and events to ensure a joyful work environment. As our COO, Mico Mineiro, often states: “Twintex’s mission is to provide its team with the best possible conditions to enhance their performance during their working day.” For instance, last month, we celebrated the Back-to-School event by providing school supplies to the children of Twintex team members.

With more than 2,000 dedicated individuals delivering top-notch service and an average daily output of 3,600 garments, how do you manage such large-scale production while maintaining quality?

Our trust in our carefully chosen partners enables us to conduct production both in Portugal and Morocco. We have 400 direct workers and over 5,500 indirect workers across our 20 subcontractors. They are well-acquainted with our work standards, ensuring they produce the same high-quality products. This collaborative effort allows us to maintain efficiency and offer a wide range of options to our clients. Twintex thrives on the constant drive to exceed our previous achievements.

Can you provide insights into the Twintex Logistics Centre launched in 2019 and how it has enhanced company operations?

The expansion to the Twintex Logistics Centre was driven by our need for additional space. This expansion has resulted in improved organisation and a larger warehouse. Within the centre, we now have an expedition department conveniently located near the highway, a cutting department, the trims department, and an expanded fabrics warehouse. These additions have enhanced our operational capabilities.

What challenges have you encountered in striking a balance between cutting-edge technology and traditional tailoring techniques?

It is essential to view technology as a complement rather than direct competition to traditional tailoring techniques. Cutting-edge technology enhances our production speed and efficiency, but it cannot replace the skill, technique, and know-how of our team members, who are the heart and soul of Twintex. Maintaining this balance is crucial for our success.

How does Twintex’s location in a textile-rich area and its four decades of experience provide advantages in terms of fabric selection and creative ideas?

Twintex collaborates with the world’s best suppliers and has a talented design team. Our reputation and longevity in the industry attract top-tier suppliers and creative minds to work with us.

How do you envision the future of Twintex in both the national and foreign markets, especially considering shifts in fashion industry trends?

We see a promising future for Twintex, and we readily embrace change and remain prepared for it. Twintex is resilient in the face of industry shifts and is known for providing solutions before problems arise. This resilience is possible because our team is well-prepared to adapt to changes in the fashion industry, and through our Twintex Academy concept, we foster a culture of critical thinking and creativity.
