Kandurata Umbrella diversifies into socks production

A leading umbrella producing firm, Kandurata Umbrella Ind. (Pvt) Ltd, claiming a major market share has now debuted in to production and marketing of cotton and nylon socks in a big way.

The company each day churns out 12000 pair of socks at its Kadugannawa based state-of-the-art facility.

The company intends to launch a number of new alluring products in line with 21st century trends. A group of five experts from China has been engaged to provide technical assistance to the Sri Lankan workers with regards to the socks manufacturing process. The firm engages in production of sports socks besides regular ones.

The company further revealed that it has also branched out into production of mosquito nets and rain coats and soon proposes to launch a range of intimate wears under its Penguin brand.

As the company has diversified from its original business of umbrella making, considering the long felt demand of customers, it will soon foray into production of premium intimate wear apparels too. There is a dearth of domestically produced premium quality intimate wears in the market and hence the company has forayed into that segment to better address the needs of the customers.

The firm, directly and indirectly employs over 2,000 employees in its facilities in Kadugannawa and Gampola which houses several state-of-the-art machines.
