An incident of fainting of more than 200 workers has been reported at a garment factory based in Kampong Speu province of Cambodia.
The incident occurred when the factory opened after three days of closure. The factory was temporarily shut for three days due to a similar fainting incident in which about 100 factory workers had fallen ill.
Although no reason has been given for mass fainting of workers, the chemicals used by the factory to prevent cockroaches from eating the garments may probably be the reason behind the incident, according to officials.
This year, over 1,200 garment workers have fainted at several garment factories across Cambodia. This has led to a concern about the working conditions in the country's garment manufacturing industry.
