On November 4, the mountain sports company VAUDE was honored at the German Sustainability Day event in the category “Germany's most sustainable strategies for the future (KMU)” for its social and ecological sustainability.

At the gala award ceremony, CEO Dr. Antje von Dewitz accepted the award from the hands of the Federal Minister Ronald Pofala. “The award-winners are vital pioneers for sustainability 'made in Germany,'” praised the Chancellor Minister and chairman of the federal government's “green cabinet” for sustainable development.

As one of over 670 applicants, the mid-sized family-owned company placed in the TOP 3 in its category. The German Sustainability Award recognizes companies that combine economic success with social responsibility and environmental protection – and use sustainable activities to generate further growth. The focus is on consistency in sustainability management and sustainability issues in brand management.

Antje von Dewitz: "Winning the German Sustainability Award is a wonderful and very important validation of VAUDE's "green" path. It shows businesses that economic activity can be highly compatible with social and environmental responsibility. We will continue to press ahead with our firm commitment to sustainability. I thank the entire VAUDE team as well as our customers and partners who accompany us on our way to becoming Europe's most environmentally friendly outdoor outfitter. "

The German Sustainability Symposium attended by high-ranking dignitaries took place under the patronage of Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel. During a panel discussion on “Sustainable Consumption – brand products of the future”, Antje von Dewitz discussed with experts, scientists and other entrepreneurs how products and consumption must be designed to enable wealth and development for a growing world population within the limits of our planet.

GERMAN SUSTAINABILITY AWARD 2011
The German Sustainability Award will be presented for the fourth time in 2011. The award is a comprehensive initiative of the German Sustainability Award Foundation in collaboration with the Federal Government, the German Council for Sustainable Development, trade associations, NGOs, and research facilities.

The prize intends to encourage companies to operate sustainably and help to raise awareness of the principles of sustainable development. Awards are presented to companies that consistently and extensively implement the principles of sustainability throughout their business to a high standard.

As a modern family-run company and Europe's environmentally friendly outdoor supplier, VAUDE takes its social and environmental responsibility very seriously. We breathe life into this maxim in all three of our business segments: Mountain Sports, Bike Sports and Packs 'n Bags.
