KiK, the largest textile and apparel discounter chain in Germany, plans to unveil its first outlet in Poland by mid-next year, well in time for the Euro 2012 football tournament that is to be hosted by Poland and Ukraine in June and July next year.
KiK is controlled by Tengelmann, which already operates its Obi DIY banner in Poland. Through the launch of the new outlet, KiK will test market, prior to its expansion in Central Europe.
The Germany-based retailer already operates more than 2,900 stores in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia. It entered Croatia in September 2011.
KiK aims to open 100 outlets in the medium term and has ambitious plans to increase its worldwide network of shops to 4,000 by 2015-end.
