Reliance Trends plans 25 new outlets by March-end

Reliance Trends, the fashion apparel division of Reliance Retail, proposes to open 25 new outlets and increase the number of its outlets in India to over 100 by end of March 2012.
Speaking on the sidelines of a retail summit, Mr. Akhilesh Prasad, Senior Vice President and Head of National Operations of Reliance Trends Ltd., said the 75 outlets of the company are already operational in the country at present, and this number would rise to over 100 by close of current fiscal year.
He stated that the company proposes to start a number of outlets in the eastern region of the country. The retail arm launched 11 outlets in the eastern region this year and intends to take this number to 25 by end of next fiscal year, he added.
Further, talking about the company's plan about adopting the franchise model, Mr. Prasad said that they are still in a trial phase. He said that they have already undertaken a couple of pilot projects on this model and intend to start some franchises.
Several people have applied for franchise with the company, Mr. Prasad said and added that they are deliberating on their findings and working to improve their models to reduce flaws.
About starting franchise model on commercial basis, the official said, it may happen during next fiscal year, but much would depend on the performance of the outlets started on trial basis.
