Sudar Garments to enter Gujarat with GSL acquisition

Mumbai-based Sudar Garments, a leading producer and exporter of readymade garments for men, women and kids segments, has acquired George Street London (GSL), an Ahmedabad-based brand that operates through its 10 franchise outlets in the west Indian State of Gujarat.
With its latest acquisition, Sudar Garments expects its revenues to increase by about Rs. 400 million in financial year 2012-13.
Before acquiring GSL, Sudar Garments was executing job-work apparel orders for GSL in Gujarat. As a result, Sudar has come to understand the market trends and needs of this area.
The acquisition of GSL will help Sudar to foray in Gujarat region with an immediate access to GSL's 10 franchise outlets.
Sudar will introduce its own brands such as Majesty and St. Paul to GSL's customer base.
The takeover of GSL is in line with Sudar's strategy of taking over other brands that have strong presence and customer base, especially in Tier II cities, for promoting its own brands.
Besides launching new brands, the Sudar also plans to open 15 new stores in various towns and cities of Maharashtra, Gujarat and South Indian States.
