The Performance Days shows solid cooperation

PERFORMANCE GATE: Another new attraction is the PERFORMANCE GATE located in the exhibit area of the PERFORMANCE FORUM. A three-dimensional gate manufactured from textiles uses various multimedia tools to present the major innovations in the area of functional fabrics. The gate is approached and passed through from all directions so visitors symbolically step into the fascinating world of functional fabrics.

The winners of the coveted Performance Awards for pioneering breakthroughs are also presented under this gate. This concept was developed along with the nine tables at the PERFORMANCE FORUM by designer Alexa Dehmel.

Design Project with the ESMOD School of Fashion: Another trade fair highlight is the new design project, which originated in collaboration with ESMOD School of Fashion. Fifty second-year students in the project each create a sporty functional outfit with the support of the fabric and accessory manufacturers.

A panel of experts judges the outfits and the thirteen best designs are exhibited at the trade fair in the PERFORMANCE FORUM. There is a special prize awaiting the designer of the winning outfit: The design is actually manufactured three times in "series production" with copies going to the designer, the producer, and the exhibition. The aim of this cooperation is "to raise the awareness of young designers for the topic of sport design," said Christian Weichert of PERFORMANCE DAYS.

ESMOD Director Dorothea Beisser also believes in the importance of the project: "The creation of sporty functional outfits is a great challenge for these students." The project was mediated by PERFORMANCE FORUM designer Alexa Dehmel, who is a former teacher herself at ESMOD.

She is hoping the workshop will bring "the aspiring graduates of the fashion school into contact with functional sports clothing and its fabrication, in addition to raising their interest and enjoyment in the sports sector." The functional fabrics used are provided at no charge from the companies Pontetorto, MITI, SianTex, Long Advance, Kolon, JRC-Reflex, and Regine.

Visitors to the real exhibition are invited to the catered lounge area where you can have interesting discussions and of course, on the first day, join the popular Come Together Party where visitors and exhibitors can meet in a relaxed atmosphere. All of this is traditionally provided free of charge.

The PERFORMANCE DAYS "functional fabrics fair” was launched by textile trader Weichert Agencies in 2008. It is the first and only trade fair created as a special platform for functional fabrics, yarns, finishes, and accessories for sport- and workwear sectors. PERFORMANCE DAYS has become a semi-annual event that gives high quality and innovative textile manufacturers and suppliers a direct presence in a major center of the European sportswear industry.
