Sydney CBD fashion retailers are poised for the world’s biggest fashion and social shopping event, Vogue Fashion’s Night Out (VFNO) on Thursday, September 6.

This year’s VFNO is expected to draw unprecedented footfall to the CBD shopping precinct with numbers expected to smash attendance from previous years, the ‘one-night-only event’ will attract over 120,000 shoppers all eager to shop like a Vogue VIP!

The global Fashion’s Night Out phenomenon, founded by Anna Wintour in 2009 with the intention of helping retailers survive the GFC, has since been endorsed by some of the world’s leading fashion authorities and celebrities including Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Victoria Beckham and Gwyneth Paltrow. This year, 19 capital cities will take part including London, New York, Paris, Milan, Berlin and Sydney.

Clover Moore, Lord Mayor of Sydney said, “Each year the response from participants of Vogue Fashion’s Night Out is outstanding. The event is a real drawcard and we’re proud to be supporting the city’s retailers. More than 600 retailers have confirmed their participation this year. It promises to be even bigger and better than previous years.”

This year VFNO will bring Sydney’s CBD to life like never before with activations from more than 600 participating retailers and special guest appearances by celebrity songstresses; Jessica Mauboy, Megan Washington, Sarah De Bono, Diana Rouvas and Emma Louise Birdsall who will entertain shoppers with live performances throughout the CBD making this the biggest Fashion’s Night Out since the event launched in Australia.

Vogue Australia Editor-in-chief Edwina McCann said, “Vogue Fashion’s Night Out is an initiative designed to support our Australian fashion industry. Vogue Australia is excited to engage shoppers in a free event, which is a global celebration of fashion, fun and shopping. This year’s theme ‘Fashion Meets Music’ is certain to entertain shoppers with special performances located throughout Sydney’s CBD. With hundreds of retailers involved we are expecting thousands of shoppers to enjoy the exclusive world of Vogue brought to life for one-night-only’.”

The free event for shoppers will launch with a public opening ceremony and performance by Jessica Mauboy at 4.45pm outside Westfield Sydney in Pitt Street Mall. Retailers across the Pitt Street, Castlereagh Street, George Street and QVB precincts (including; luxury stores, shopping centres, department stores and high street stores) will delight shoppers with one-night-only offers, performances and extended trading hours. Martin Place will be transformed into the Vogue Precinct, featuring pop-up stores, food trucks and DJs to keep the celebration flowing throughout the Sydney CBD.

For a gold coin donation shoppers will be able to purchase an exclusive VFNO custom designed ‘VOGUE’ tattoo, with proceeds donated to the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. Now in its third year in Australia, VFNO is proudly supported by the City of Sydney, Westfield Sydney, Nokia, eftpos and this year’s naming rights sponsor Belvedere Vodka.
