Trousers take centre stage at John Lewis for Christmas

From high waisted cigarette pants and sleek, second-skin leathers to jumpsuits in eye-popping prints, rich velvets and lux brocade, the ‘trouser’ ruled the runway for autumn winter 2012 – and is set to give the classic LBD a run for its money as this year’s Christmas party fashion essential.

Channelling the influx of trouser styles seen on the autumn winter 2012 catwalks of New York, London, Paris and Milan - John Lewis is helping its customers to embrace this trend, by launching complimentary trouser consultations whereby women will receive expert Fashion Advice around how to find their pair.

Advisors will also help customers find the perfect partner to complement their selected trouser style – be it a cashmere silk blend tee, oversized cable knit sweater, sharp tuxedo blazer or clashing tonal print top

Jo Hooper, Head of Buying Womenswear at John Lewis says: “My favourite trousers for autumn/winter have to be the John Lewis Collection daisy print trousers, which go with almost anything. We're wearing trousers shorter than before with a touch of French savoir-faire, so lengthen legs and parade elegant ankles with a toe-cap stiletto.

“I always think tailored trousers look effortlessly chic when worn with a slouchy knit and I love the vivid purple cashmere jumper from John Lewis Collection Weekend – a strong shade needs to be paired with a bold trouser.
