SIMM, the Madrid International Fashion Fair, an event organised by IFEMA, has concluded its sixty-ninth edition, having taken place between 8th and 10th February in Halls 12-14 in the DC Area at Feria de Madrid. The event achieved some favourable ratings and trading results that generally surpassed the expectations of the participating companies.

Throughout the three-day duration of the event, the last in which the fair will be staged on its own before it joins MODACALZADO+IBERPIEL next September, SIMM witnessed a total of 13,048 visitors. Of this number, almost one thousand were foreign buyers, which represent a 10% increase compared to the figure recorded in September 2012.

From the nations of Europe, France, Portugal and Italy were the main countries of origin for the foreign visitors at SIMM, although we might highlight the especially large increases in the number of professionals from Bulgaria, Russia and Malta. From the American Continent, Mexico and Brazil were the countries that sent the largest numbers of visitors to the fair.

From Spain itself, Madrid, followed by Valencia, Andalusia, Catalonia and Castile-Leon, were the main regions of origin for visitors.

A Comprehensive Exhibition and Coinciding Activities

Contemporary styles, urban fashion, timeless basics, up-and-coming design, party-wear creations, fur fashion and accessories were the main sections

that made up the exhibition at this edition of SIMM, which was complemented by a series of conferences and debates regarding the present and future of the industry, based on the participation of leading experts in retailing, clothes manufacturing and textiles. The fair also hosted the staging of various exhibitions to coincide with the trade exhibition itself.

Around 600 Spanish and foreign fashion and clothing companies took part at this edition of the fair with their Autumn/Winter 2013-14 Collections, once again making up one of the largest and most comprehensive events for the clothing industry in Spain.
