The family members of 37 Tazreen Fashions fire victims, who were buried unnamed and later had been identified through DNA profiling, received compensation money on 07 May 2013, after six months of the tragic incident.

The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over cheques of Tk 7 lakh to each victim’s family at her office on 07 May 2013.

Earlier, the Criminal Investigation Department along with the National Forensic DNA Profiling Laboratory at Dhaka Medical College Hospital collected samples from bodies for establishing their identities through DNA profiling.

The 37 victims were identified through DNA profiling and the report was submitted to the labour ministry on January 28.

The prime minister’s office, meanwhile, has finalised a preliminary list of 62 victims who were identified by their relatives immediately after the incident and 57 of them have so far received compensation.
