Nike unveils Santos jersey inspired by Brazilian landmarks

"While the home and away kits are in the club's traditional colors, the third kit highlights something important from the team’s history. In honor of its 101st year, we wanted to pay tribute to the city, the Santos night and beachfront," said Mauricio Cordel, Nike Football Designer.

The jersey features the city's famous beachfront as the front-center graphic and a v-neck accented with a luminous yellow, a new color this year for Santos. On the back of the jersey near the collar the phrase "Praça da Independência" or “Independence Square” is emblazoned paying tribute to the place where Santos fans celebrate the club’s wins. Blue shorts and socks with yellow details complete the kit.

Santos’s passionate fans participated in the creation of this celebratory kit. A fan survey helped Nike designers identify the iconic images and colors used for the jersey. The club was also involved in the design of the new kit.

"Santos has been very involved in our creations and encouraged our team to translate its history without abandoning the themes and traditions which gives Santos its vibrant identity," added Cordel.
