Some of the latest technologies to produce garments in the shortest time were displayed at the just-concluded 15th edition of the Jiangsu International Fashion Festival—a textile, apparel and fashion fair—held in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu.

One of the highlights of the fair was the display of the latest technology to produce of custom-made clothing within five minutes.

Once a switch is pressed, three cameras scan the body of the person for whom custom-made clothing is to be made. The collection of data on the size of the various parts of the body gets completed in about four seconds, and the accurate dimensions would be shown on a computer screen in another 10 seconds.

On the screen, one has to select favourite fabrics and clothing styles and then click on OK button. Then the data gets transferred to the right instruments, which cut fabrics as per necessary measurement in about five minutes.

The company that displayed the technology said it was more suitable for production of uniforms. The technology gives up to 85 percent accurate measurements and saves the time for trying on clothes, it added.
