Varsity Spirit unveils 'Powerfit' fabric for dance dresses

Powerfit fabric is softer, provides greater stretch for stunting and tumbling, and wicks moisture.  All Varsity Spirit Fashion uniform shells, skirts and pants, guy's shirts and pants and select warm-ups are now available with Powerfit.

"The cheer and dance community told us they wanted material that was softer and provided more flexibility while also offering great support," said Kim Williams, Vice President of Design for Varsity Spirit Fashion. 

"The Powerfit fabric delivers on that request and continues the tradition of innovation Varsity Spirit Fashion has for cheer and dance gear for today's generation of young athletes."

Powerfit contains both polyester and spandex, providing four-way stretch.  The fabric is used on both the front and back of the garments which allows for greater range of motion.  Powerfit utilizes VisaEndurance moisture management, which wicks moisture from the skin to the surface of the garment for faster evaporation and better stain resistance. 

The new fabric also offers antimicrobial odor control to help inhibit the growth of bacteria and staining.  Like traditional Varsity Spirit Fashion uniform material, Powerfit provides excellent color and low wrinkle retention.

A new braid is also available on all Powerfit uniforms which is made of finer yarns with higher filament counts, providing enhanced hand with greater flexibility.

"With long game days, we want to be as comfortable as we can," said Mallory Moss, Senior cheerleader at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  "With the new Powerfit fabric, I can wear the uniform from 6am until 5pm and still be comfortable."
