Tyvek suit maker MPE registers double-digit growth in 2007

When Miller's Precision Enterprises Inc (MPE Inc) posted a double-digit sales increase in 2007, Mike Miller nearly doubled the contributions MPE and its subsidiary, Garment Recovery Systems, made to local charities nationwide.

MPE -- the world's leading provider of economically priced recycled Tyvek clothing, including gently worn disposable coveralls, plastic aprons, jumpsuits, lab coats, plastic suits, pants, shirts, biohazard suits, and other Tyvek and Kleenguard safety apparel -- donated $52,706 in 2007, up from the $26,727 the company gave the year before.

"It's important that MPE not only recycle and help with pollution and landfill problems through its recycling efforts, but also give back to the most needy in our society," said Miller, the company's CEO. "The end result is that MPE offers full-time, good-paying jobs to its employees, helps with the environment as a leading 'green' company, and gives a significant amount to charity based on its size."

Recycle and return:
For about 10 years, MPE has been donating money to local charities on behalf of the companies that provide the gently used Tyvek and Kleenguard protective clothing MPE recycles.

In 2007, MPE's donations helped 58 charities, from the YWCA and United Way to the Red Cross, domestic violence shelters, the Special Olympics, and local outreach centers that serve children, adults, and even pets.

"We pick local charities that serve the communities where theplants that do our recycling are located," Miller said. "The plants help choose the charities, so they know they're supporting their neighbors, not some far-away, unknown organization. It's more meaningful for them, and based on what we hear from the charities, it's effective and very much appreciated."
