A recent research survey predicts Vietnam to be in the most fortunate position, ranking second after China in terms of apparel exports to US. Experts also believe that if the present trend continues, the country is likely to surpass Mexico and India by hitting US $6.1 billion in 2008.
Recording a growth rate of 3.2 percent in 2005, Vietnam is expected to develop by an average rate of 6 percent.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) released a statistical report showing that from January to November 2007, the country's textile and apparel exports reaped $7.05 billion, representing year–on–year rise of 32 percent.
Although, last year, Vietnam stood in the fourth place, preceded by China, Mexico and India, it is believed to double its growth rate to settle in the second position in 2008.
