The Government of Vietnam has decided to open thirteen industrial zones in the northern province of Hoa Binh.

These vitally crucial industrial zones will spread over an area of 2,666 ha and will focus on the production of garments among others.

This plan is currently approved by Hoa Binh people's committee in a bid to attract more foreign investors in such industries.

Industrial zones will include Luong Son, Nam Luong Son, Bac Luong Son, Nhuan Trach, Yen Quang, Mong Hoa, Dong Tam, Phong My, Lac Thinh, Thanh Ha, Dam Duong, and Phu Thanh.

Moreover, the Government is also planning to establish two economic zones to add to the existing 11 in the country. While one of these will be set up in Hon La Economic Zone in central Quang Binh Province, the other will be at Nam Phu Yen in central Phu Yen region.

Expert survey showed that by the end of 2007, economic zones in Vietnam attracted 238 projects worth US $9.9 billion of which 62 projects worth $3 billion were finance by foreign investors.
