The upcoming IAF World Apparel Convention will be held on October 29th – 31st, 2008, in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and will focus on the theme of Changing Consumer Needs and the Future of the Fashion Business.

Registration, which can only be done on the IAF website (www.iafnet.com), has officially opened. All interested delegates are hereby kindly invited to consult the IAF website under the “Conferences” section for updated information regarding the convention and registration opportunities.

Brochures for the 24th IAF World Apparel Convention are currently being distributed to all IAF members and potential delegates.

Convention registration is possible via the IAF website and hotel reservations can also be made online via the IAF website.

Hotel Crowne Plaza Maastricht, where the convention will be held this year, is offering special reduced room rates for convention participants, when registering before August 28th, 2008.

After that date, these rates cannot be guaranteed. The convention will be followed by an optional study tour to Dusseldorf from November 1st to 4th, 2008.

Visits will be made to important fashion companies and institutes in Germany to get a state of the art impression of fashion marketing, design, innovation and logistics.

Naturally, IAF member associations, associate and corporate members can take part in the convention at a reduced fee of €1.050.

The fee for non IAF members is €1.375. If an organization is not yet an IAF member but is interested in becoming a member, it is possible to do so before the convention and save €625 directly.

This includes €300 on membership fees in the first year of membership (normal fee is € 750 per year) and €325 on the registration fee for the convention.

If an accompanying person joins, the discount is therefore €950. This special offer also applies to other participants from the same company.

Four plenary sessions regarding important topics related to the main theme will take place during the convention.

Questions which will be raised include: How will the new generation of consumers shape fashion? How will technology shape the future? What will be the future geography of apparel manufacturing and consumption? How will fashion education shape the future of the industry? Internationally respected speakers who will take part in the convention include representatives from Tommy Hilfiger, Liz Claiborne, Kaufhof Warenhaus, Coolcat, VF Corporation, Charles Vögele and Hugo Boss.
