According to the latest statistics, garment production of above-scale enterprises in China reached around 1.960 billion pieces in June 2008, representing an increase of over 250 million pieces or 14.68 percent from the previous month. This also marks a year-on-year growth of 8.43 percent.
Woven apparel production scored 860.22 million pieces, registering a surge of 12.81 percent from the previous month, and a climb of 1.20 percent from the same time last year.
Knitted garment production marked about 1.100 billion pieces, 16.18 percent more from that in May, and indicating year-on-year boost of 15.63 percent.
In the first half this year, China's total clothing production of above-scale enterprises reached nearly 9.709 billion pieces, registering a growth of 7.64 percent over the same period of 2007.
Total output of woven garments from January-June 2008 period was recorded at 4.39 billion, up 3.92 percent from the same time last year. Cumulative production of knitted apparel fetched 5.321 billion, a year-on-year rise of 11.06 percent.
