It has been observed that Vietnamese textile and garment exporters took full advantage of removal of quota, to push up export to Turkey.

In the first half of 2008, country earned US $26.8 million, by exporting textile and garment products which depicts a year-on-year rise of 59 percent. In June itself, the figures reached $5.7 million, showing growth of 10 percent compared to May and 11 percent over June 2007.

Here, a point is worth noting, removal of quota has brought great change in import structure of textile and garment industry of Turkey. Now, the country imports finished products from Vietnam rather than buying raw materials and that was clearly reflected in export growth rate in the first six months.

Among the various export products, fabric gained highest export value of $12.1 million at 4.31 percent increase rate. Whereas products like jacket suits, trousers, sweater, shirts also experienced considerable growth.

Vietnam exported more than 312,000 pieces of jackets Turkey worth $ 5.3 million, showing rise of 160 percent in volume and 219 percent in value.

Trousers could fetch $1.9 million with increase of 217 percent with respect to value whereas T-shirts soars to rise of 207 percent in volume and 388 percent value wise.

Next is sweater that gained 56 percent in quantity and 52 percent in value. Shorts also showcased with growth of 10.67 and 7.6 percent in volume and value respectively.
