HerRoom is ready for fall fashion

As we get ready for fall, the fashion industry is thinking far ahead. Nude-colored apparel and sheer fabrics are expected to be big hits this season, and next.

At the Mercedes Benz Spring 2009 New York Fashion Week and the Just Cavalli Spring/Summer 2009 Milan Fashion week models strutted down the runway wearing see-through blouses, pants and dresses in delicate and feminine draping.

Designers have been quoted as saying it is a time of decision for women -- will they continue to be conservative or move into a new more liberal phase.

"One thing is certain: this is a fashion that demands great undergarments," says lingerie expert Tomima Edmark of HerRoom.com. "Women will want beautiful bras and slips to wear with a sheer fabric."

Since nude colors can look washed out on certain skin tones, fashion experts say it's wise to combine the nude colors with a darker neutral. One way to achieve this look is to wear a chocolate colored bra, like the DKNY bra now on sale at HerRoom.com. Although bras are usually hidden under our clothing, some makes are beautiful enough to be worn under transparent fabrics. The Wacoal Elegance is one, as is the La Mystere Dream Tisha Lace Bra.

A woman in a full slip evokes romantic images, and the FarrWest Silk Charmeuse slip in black with nude colored lace is perfect under a transparent blouse. Slip fabrics run the gamut from silk, rayon, nylon, satin and taffeta to blends proprietary to the maker. FarrWest slips are made in charmeuse, a fabric that is anti-cling.

The see-through look is not limited to blouses anymore. 2008/9 ushers in sheer skirts and pants -- pair them with more modest bloomers or boy-shorts to maintain an elegant silhouette. Try the Tatiana lace boy shorts, which come with a matching lace bra, or the FarrWest Silk Pettipants.

While fashion designers might have intended the look to be a radical social statement, actual customers would likely be more comfortable with a beautiful bra or slip underneath their clothes.
