Tet bonuses normally paid out at the end of December are just round the corner and according to reports there is going to be a slight drop in the amount of bonus to be paid in the current year when compared with the previous year.
The only organizations expected to maintain the previous year's levels are the state owned and foreign invested companies, while the one's who regularly hand out large bonuses to their employees like banking, finance and real estate firms are expected to pay lesser than usual.
According to government sources, sectors like textiles, garments and footwear which paid heavy bonuses last year, even to the extent of 2-3 month's salary, are expected to pay only one month's salary as bonus this year.
However the big garment companies like Viet Tien and Nha Be are expected to pay bonuses equivalent to what they paid in the previous year. The department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs is expected to oversee and keep a close watch on the matter of payment of bonus and salaries in cooperation with the district units.
