According to statistics of Ministry of Industry and Trade, in November, the export value of Vietnam's textile and garment products to Ukraine reached US $3.1 million, showcasing a fall by 5.81 percent over October and up 27 percent against similar period 2007.
In total, Vietnam earned $32 million by exporting textile and garment products to this market, soaring 83 percent year-on-year.
Among textile and garment products, elastic shirt accounted for 50 percent of the total export value to Ukraine. The country fetched $16.2 million, up 64.52 percent on year. It is expected that the export of this product to Ukraine would grow in 2009 as well.
Export of trousers, coats, and jackets gained momentum in this region. Market experts are eying Ukraine as a potential market for Vietnam's textile and garment products.
Especially, when Ukraine is not a member of European Union member, Vietnamese enterprises should enhance the export to this market as its standards, trade barriers would not be as tough as those of EU.
