St. George, the popular vacation area "where Utah's summer spends the winter" is now also home to a new DownEast Home & Clothing Outlet, a retail store offering stylish and affordable home furnishings and apparel. The retailer announced that it will celebrate the store's grand opening by offering local shoppers a weeklong chance to register for a $1,000 in-store giveaway starting Monday, May 18.

Located at the Cotton Mills II shopping center in Washington, Utah, the store will sell furniture from a wide variety of the nation's top catalog companies at 40-80 percent off regular retail prices, as well as both name brand clothing and the company's private label apparel, DownEast Basics.

Affordability Key Factor to Store's Popularity, Offers Country's Largest Catalog Selection of Home Furnishings Under One Roof

DownEast, which has expanded its retail footprint from Utah to Idaho, Washington and Arizona (and soon California) at the rate of one new store per month since early 2008, believes that its high-design looks on a bargain-basement budget are ideal for today's cost-conscious yet fashionable consumers.

"We're excited to bring the DownEast shopping experience to St. George. In addition to our Basics clothing line, we're proud to offer a broad selection of top-name catalog brands for both clothing and home furnishings under one roof in an outlet setting," said Rich Israelsen, VP of Operations for DownEast. "Since 1991, we've strived to offer customers appealing styles at equally appealing prices. We've found our affordability to be the key differentiator that's allowed us to grow where many other retail companies are experiencing shrinkage in a challenging economy."

St. George: Prime Location for Residents, Visitors, and a Catalyst for the Area's Economy

St. George, which was recently named one of the "Top 100 Places to Live" in 2009 by Relocate America, was selected by DownEast as the new store location because of its reputation as a "destination spot" for new residents and visitors. St. George is also a catalyst for the area's economy.

"We've maintained a presence locally for over 12 years with our DownEast Outfitters outlet store in The Outlets at Zion shopping center," said Israelsen. "The dedication of our local customer base, along with St. George's profile as a center of activity, were both motivating factors when we considered where to open our next DownEast Home & Clothing store location. While we're excited to extend our brand within the region, it's also fulfilling to contribute to the growth of the St. George economy by hiring a new staff, including many local residents, to run the store."

DownEast Launches New Store Opening with $1,000 Weeklong Giveaway

To celebrate the opening, the company will offer a $1,000 giveaway of DownEast merchandise in the St. George store to one lucky winner. Shoppers will have the chance to enter by visiting the store in-person between May 18 and May 25 and registering with a valid email address. The official drawing will take place on Tuesday, May 26. The winner does not have to be present at the time of the drawing to redeem the prize.
