German BSN Medical to add new jobs in Conover

BSN Medical Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of global healthcare leader BSN Medical, has selected its existing facility in Conover for a project with the potential to create 25 jobs over the next two years. The $2 million expansion will add an additional 50,000 square feet to its facility located on 1011 Keisler Road SE in Conover.
The expanded facility will continue to warehouse and internationally distribute products in the segments of traditional wound care and compression therapy and will add manufacturing capabilities for BSN Medical's line of orthopedic soft goods and bracing products.
Parent company BSN Medical, with approximately 3600 staff, is one of the world's leading suppliers in the fracture management, physiotherapy and compression stockings markets.
Operating in more than 25 countries, BSN Medical has production facilities in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Pakistan, South Africa and the United States, while continuing to grow through various acquisitions.
The addition is expected to be complete by the end of the year, with the expanded operations to be fully operational by Spring 2010.
Conrad Jobst founded JOBST in 1950 in Toledo, Ohio. Born in Germany, Conrad was both a mechanical engineer and inventor. He applied his varied expertise and personal experience to the development of gradient compression garments, which relieve the symptoms of venous insufficiency.
On April 2, 2001, the business was renamed BSN-JOBST as it became an affiliate company of BSN medical Inc., a joint venture holding company equally owned by Smith & Nephew and Beiersdorf.
Then functioning as an independent player, BSN was aquired by Montagu Private Equity firm in February 2006, a leading private equity investor in the European mid-market with offices in London, Manchester, Paris, Düsseldorf and Stockholm.
