Campaign to promote traditional 'Chechia' skull cap

The second traditional 'chechia' promotional campaign has been organized by Tunisia's National Handicraft Organization in association with the National Handicraft Corporation. The chechia is Tunisia's traditional close-fitting red skull cap.

The campaign which has been sponsored by the Trade and Handicrafts Ministry opened on November 15 and will continue till November 30. The event is being organized with an objective to encourage Tunisians to purchase more traditional products.

Around 40 tradesmen from eight provinces such as Tunis, la Manouba, Sousse, Gabès, Jendouba, Béja, Zaghouan and Tataouine are participating in this campaign, wherein the customers can experience an extensive range of 'chechia' and receive a discount of 5 to 20% on it.

A promotional campaign will also be conducted during this event, in a bid to guide citizens about various outlets where the campaign is being held.

The country celebrates the National Traditional Industries and National Dress Day, every year on March 16, when Tunisian civil servants don traditional garments including the chechia, which particularly are of red colour.
