Exports from Bursa, the ready-made manufacturing hub of Turkey grew by 10.3 percent, while shipments of clothing grew by 7.9 percent in the first two months of 2010, from a year, ago.
According to figures compiled by the Uludag Exporters' Unions (UIB), shipments of textile from Bursa stood at US $146.3 million, while that of ready-made garments touched $132.7 million in January and February 2010.
Among the major destinations in textiles, exports to Germany came to $182.93 million, up 9.4 percent, Russia, $163.94 million, up 37.8 percent, Iran $122.45 million, up 17.7 percent, United Kingdom $84.63 million, also up 16.8 and Poland $84.50 million, down 1.0 percent.
When considering shipments of clothing, Germany once again topped the charts with $181.57 million, up 0.3 percent, UK $143.50 million, down 12.6 percent, Belgium $88.10 million, up 11.8 percent, Spain $81.37 million, up 8.3 percent and France $72.51 million, up a awesome 38.7 percent.
